Dr. Margaret Cochran
Dr. Margaret Cochran, a beloved educator, psychotherapist, and author, passed away peacefully on June 24th, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Janesville, Wisconsin, Margaret grew up in Indiana and Illinois. She earned a degree in special education from Ball State University and spent several years teaching before pursuing further education. She obtained a Master’s degree in Special Education from Indiana University and later completed a Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work from the same institution. After relocating to California in 1989, Margaret established a private practice and co-founded Saratoga Family Health Center with her partner, Dr. David Waggoner. The center offered comprehensive physical and mental health treatments. In 2004, Margaret further expanded her knowledge by earning her doctorate in Transpersonal Psychology from the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology in Palo Alto, California.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Margaret was a prolific author and a frequent contributor to various media outlets and her podcast, ‘The Relationship Doctor’, reaching people all over the world. She was a voracious reader, her quest for knowledge and intellectual stimulation never tired. She could express amazing animation or calmness in her voice, when reading to children. She loved gifting books to her grandchildren and nephews. She also had a passion for design. Her home and office are filled with warmth and uniqueness.
Margaret is survived by her devoted husband, Michael, her son John, and her grandchildren Kayley, Emma, Jack, and Jacob. Her legacy will continue through her patients who will carry forward her teachings on wellness.
A celebration of her life will be held in her honor. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Margaret’s name to a cancer research organization of their choice.
