Here follows the wise tale of the Three Integrity Fairies

The Tale Of The Three Integrity Fairies.

Once upon a time, not so long ago and not so far away as you might imagine, there were three sisters. And each one of them had her own integrity fairy.

Every day each sister’s integrity fairy would swoop down, tap her on the shoulder and whisper in her ear anything that she might need to know about making wise, productive and integrity filled decisions and life plans.

All was well and in the fullness of time the three sisters grew to adulthood, left their parent’s home and went out into the great wide world to seek their fortune. First, each of the three sisters got a job, then each of the three sisters bought their own house. Next, each of the three sisters married one of three brothers and finally they each had three children.

Well, as you might imagine with husbands and children and careers and all the ‘toing and frowing’ that was required to orchestrate their lives, it became quite difficult for the three integrity fairies to find a moment to swoop down, tap the sisters on their shoulders and whisper integrity filled ideas into their ears. In short, the integrity fairies felt that they could no longer do their job well, and their integrity was being compromised! This was a most serious matter and something had to be done. So they called a meeting to decide what steps to take.

“However shall we solve this dilemma?” asked the first integrity fairy. ‘Whomever shall we call for help?” asked the second integrity fairy. “I have an idea!” said the littlest integrity fairy. ‘What is it dear?” the first and second integrity fairies asked. “Well,” said the littlest integrity fairy, “what if we got some small pebbles and dropped them on the three sister’s roofs, tap, tap, tap, tap, tap…” “And then when they come out to see whatever could be the matter, we can swoop down, tap them on the shoulder and whisper integrity filled advice in their ear again.” “That’s very clever” said the first integrity fairy. “That just might work” said the second integrity fairy. “Let’s go!” said the littlest integrity fairy. And so they did.

On and on they flew until they collected as many pebbles as three integrity fairies could carry. Then the first integrity fairy took her pebbles and dropped them on the roof of the oldest sister’s house, tap, tap, tap, tap, tap… The oldest sister, who was inside the house heard the noise on her roof and said, “Oh, what’s that racket, I’d better go see whatever could be the matter.”  And when she came outside to look at her roof the first integrity fairy swooped down, tapped her on the shoulder and whispered in her ear. And as a result, the oldest sister then went to law school and became the attorney general of her state.

And so the fairies met again to discuss the results of their labors. “What a brilliant plan!” said the first integrity fairy. “It’s worked like a charm!” said the second integrity fairy. “Let’s do it again!” said the littlest integrity fairy. And so they did.

On and on they flew until they collected all the pebbles that three integrity fairies could carry and they dropped them on the roof of sister number two, tap, tap, tap, tap, tap…

The middle sister who was inside the house heard the noise on her roof and said, “Oh what’s that racket, I’d better go and see whatever could be the matter.” But then upon further reflection she said, “No, I think I’ll ignore it and see if it goes away.”

Now this was not how things were supposed to go. So the three integrity fairies called another meeting. “However shall we solve this dilemma?” said the first integrity fairy. “Whomever shall we call for help?” said the second integrity fairy. “I have an idea”, said the littlest integrity fairy. “What is it dear?” said the first and second integrity fairies. “Well”, said the littlest integrity fairy, “what if we get some rocks and drop them on the second sister’s roof, thud, thud, thud, thud, thud…” “And when she comes out to see whatever could be the matter then we could swoop down, tap her on the shoulder, and whisper integrity filled advice in her ear.” “That’s very clever” said the first integrity fairy. “That just might work” said the second integrity fairy. “Let’s go!” said the littlest integrity fairy. And so they did.

On and on they flew and they collected as many rocks as three integrity fairies could carry.

Then the second integrity fairy dropped the rocks on the roof of the middle sister’s house, thud, thud, thud, thud, thud…

The middle sister, who was still in the house heard the noise on her roof again and said, “Oh, the racket is getting louder; I’d better go and see whatever could be the matter.” And when she went outside to look at the roof the second integrity fairy swooped down, tapped her on the shoulder, whispered in her ear and as a result the middle sister went to graduate school, got a doctoral degree in fine arts and began writing and publishing many interesting and helpful books, one after the other.

So the fairies met again to discuss their success. “What a brilliant plan!” said the first integrity fairy. “It’s worked like a charm!” said the second integrity fairy. “Let’s do it again!” said the littlest integrity fairy. And so they did.

First they collected all the pebbles that three integrity fairies could carry and they dropped them on the roof of the third sister’s house, tap, tap, tap, tap, tap…

And the third sister who was in the house heard the noise and said, “Oh, what’s that racket, I’d better go and see whatever could be the matter.” But then upon further reflection she said, “No, I think I’ll ignore it and see if it goes away.”

The littlest integrity fairy was undaunted by this because she knew exactly what to do. So next the three integrity fairies went out and got all the rocks they could carry and they dropped these on the third sister’s house, thud, thud, thud, thud, thud…

The third sister who was still in the house heard the noise on the roof again and said, “Oh, that racket is getting louder, maybe I’d better go and see whatever could be the matter.” But upon further reflection she said again, “I’m going to ignore it a little longer still and see if it goes away.”

Well, this was not how things were supposed to go. So once again the three integrity fairies called a meeting. “However shall we solve this dilemma?” asked the first integrity fairy. “Whomever shall we call for help?” asked the second integrity fairy. “I have an idea”, said the littlest integrity fairy. “What is it dear?” asked the first and second integrity fairies. “Well”, said the littlest integrity fairy, “Let’s get a boulder and drop it on the third sister’s roof, that’s sure to get her attention.” “That’s very clever” said the first integrity fairy. “That just might work” said the second integrity fairy. “Let’s go!” said the littlest integrity fairy. And so they did.

On and on they flew until they got the biggest boulder that three integrity fairies could carry.

They flew over the third sister’s house and dropped the boulder right in the middle of the roof.

Boom!

The boulder hit the roof and kept going until it had crashed through the ceiling and it landed right on top of sister number three. “Uh, oh,” said the first integrity fairy. “Uh, oh,” said the second integrity fairy. “Uh, oh,” said the littlest integrity fairy. And she called 911.

And, do you know what the third sister was heard to exclaim when the police, the fire department and the paramedics came to see how they might remove the rather large boulder that was now making a ‘smooshy’ pancake out of her? Well, she said, “Why do things like this always happen to me?!”

So you see, the universe will give you lots of chances to pay attention to what you need to pay attention to. First you get a gentle tap, then a bit of a shove and finally a freaking boulder!

And this is what the three integrity fairies had to say. “You know it’s best to pay attention the first time around,” said the first integrity fairy. “Avoid reminders at your peril,” said the second integrity fairy. “Let’s go!” said the littlest integrity fairy. And so they did.

The end and a beginning, for endings always are you know!
